As a top-ranked high school in Ellis County by K12-niche.com, Red Oak ISD is attracting new families. While the district does not have an open enrollment policy, there are clear-defined avenues for students to join our Hawk Family! Those options are outlined below. Some are state-mandated and others are locally defined. Thank you for your interest in joining the Red Oak ISD Family!
ROISD RESIDENT:- The family lives within the district boundary lines. (state-mandated)
- New Student Enrollment Requirements>>>
STUDENT AND PARENT CONSERVATOR:
- When parents are divorced and one of the two parents who have custody lives within the district, students are allowed to enroll in Red Oak ISD. (state-mandated)
POWER OF ATTORNEY/STUDENT LIVING SEPARATE AND APART FROM PARENTS OR GUARDIANS:
- The family has signed legal rights for the child to a family who resides in the district. (state-mandated)
MULTIPLE FAMILY:
- The family lives with another family who is a district resident. (state-mandated)
HOMELESS:
- The family does not have a permanent residence and qualifies as homeless. (state-mandated)
RESIDENT GRANDPARENT:
- A grandparent, serving as a caretaker for the child, lives in the ROISD zone, even though the parents do not and the child does not - students in grades PreK-8. (state-mandated)
- As of 2022-23, the grandparent clause will not be an option for students in high school. Current students under a resident grandparent clause will be grandfathered until they graduate. However, new students in grades 9-12 are not eligible as resident grandparent enrollees, including siblings of current students.
STAFF MEMBER CHILD:
- If a parent works for ROISD, children may attend, limited to space available. (local decision)
NEW HOME CONTRACT:
- If parents can show that their home, which is within ROISD boundaries, is under construction, they can enroll in the district. The contract must show move-in within 90 days of the student's first day of school. (local decision)
INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFER:
- Starting with the 2022-2023 school year, intra-district transfers will not be allowed for new requests. Students currently on an intra-district transfer will be allowed to continue until they leave their current school. Students of employees will be allowed to intra-district transfer to reduce staff travel and childcare needs. (local decision)
