Red Oak ISD has an agreement with the University of Texas at Arlington and Navarro College that allows selected high school students to earn an Associate’s degree via dual credit through Navarro College that the University of Texas at Arlington will accept intact.
Hawk Scholars Academy allows selected incoming 9th graders to begin earning roughly 60 Dual Credit Hours while at Red Oak High School, graduate with an Associate Degree, and enter the University of Texas at Arlington as a classified junior.
Unique to the Hawk Scholars Academy is the fact that students continue to be a part of the main ROHS campus. They will have the same opportunities for extracurricular activities and experiences as their classmates.
Current 8th grade students may be considered for entry into the Hawk Scholars Academy by a process which will include a student portfolio, academic excellence, and panel interview with ROISD, Navarro, and UTA staff members. Download the Application Packet for 2019-20 or visit the Application Procedure webpage.
This program does carry college tuition costs including textbooks and fees. On average, a 3-hour course through Navarro College costs $168. An Associate’s degree consists of roughly 60 credit hours.
