Bilingual/ESL

  • Bilingual & English as Second Language Mission

Red Oak ISD will ensure that all language learners achieve long-term academic success linguistically, academically and cognitively within a socially and culturally supportive environment.

    Bilingual/ESL Program

Red Oak ISD provides Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to provide a comprehensive program designed to meet the affective, linguistic, and cognitive needs of speakers of other languages.

Red Oak ISD provides English as a Second Language classrooms at each elementary and secondary campus with ESL-certified teachers.

Red Oak ISD will provide Dual Language Enrichment classrooms for our bilingual students at Wooden Elementary and Schupmann Elementary.

Red Oak ISD currently has a One-Way Dual Language Program where only students who are non-English proficient qualify. English oral language and reading in Spanish are taught until 2nd grade, where they begin 50% Reading Language Arts and 50% Spanish Language Arts until 5th grade. Our goal is for our Emergent Bilingual students to build their primary language and literacy skills to attain full proficiency in English and Spanish.
