Crisis Management & Emergency Operations
The district has long been a leader in crisis management and emergency operations planning under the leadership of the Red Oak ISD Police Department, working closely with the ROISD School Safety and Security Committee. The district has a full Emergency Operations Plan that trains teachers, administrators, and support staff to care for everything from the loss of a staff member to a major tornado or other weather-type incidents. The teams are trained in summer training sessions on their roles in a major incident.
Red Oak ISD has gone the extra mile to assure preparedness by doing “full scale” mock disasters and participating in joint emergency response training with local first responders, including, Fire and Police Departments from both Glenn Heights and Red Oak. Red Oak ISD Police also have trained jointly with other first responders, including Ovilla, Lancaster, DeSoto, Waxahachie, Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, and American Medical Response.
Vestibule Procedures
Since 2018, every ROISD campus has a secured vestibule entrance for safety purposes. Visitors must ring the bell and be buzzed into the office area. Many visitors do not have the need to proceed beyond the front office to simply drop off an item or check out their student. Visitors who do have business on the campus will have their ID scanned and a guest badge issued for access.
