    John Anderson joined the Red Oak ISD School Board in 2002 and is currently the President. He has served as Vice President and Assistant Secretary numerous times during his tenure. John has also served on the PTA Board for Eastridge Elementary, Watch D.O.G. Coordinator, and as Lady Hawk Volleyball Booster Club webmaster.

    Anderson is a 1983 graduate of Red Oak High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Dallas Baptist University. He also earned an Associate’s Degree from Navarro College where he was a pitcher for the Bulldogs baseball team. He has spent 20+ yrs. with Applied Materials, Inc. in the semiconductor industry packaged around a short 3-year stint in the Oil and Gas Industry working for Vinson Process Controls.  Before his time at Applied Materials, John served as an Electrician’s Mate for 12 years in the United States Navy, including deployment for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

    He and his wife, Karen, have two daughters. One is a ROHS and Texas A&M graduate and the other a Sophomore attending Red Oak High School. Karen, a 1984 graduate of ROHS, also serves as the Executive Director for the Red Oak ISD Education Foundation. When not serving the District, John and Karen can be found at Eastridge Baptist Church where John is a Deacon and both remain active working with in the Youth Department and various church committees. They share a passion working with and supporting the kids of the Red Oak community.

    Melanie Petersen joined the Red Oak ISD School Board in 2015. She is currently Board Secretary.  She is a 1976 graduate of Red Oak High School and has been married to her husband, Pete, who is a 1968 ROHS graduate, for 35 years. They have two grown sons and two grandsons who attend school in ROISD.

    She has been employed as a Technical Services Librarian for the past 20 years working for two of the largest law firms in Dallas during that time.

    In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and serving the community in a variety of capacities including the following: Red Oak Lions Club - Past President, Current Secretary; Red Oak High School Alumni Association - Vice President; Red Oak Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association – Member; Red Oak Senior Citizens Board – Treasurer; Red Oak Elementary PTA – Member; Red Oak Council of PTAs - Life Member; ROISD Education Foundation Board Member (2009-2011), and Ellis County SPCA Education Committee (2008-2009).

    Penny Story was elected in 2019 for the one-year term to complete the unexpired term in Place 5. Ms. Story is a member of the inaugural 2018-19 Red Oak ISD Community Advisory Council which meets monthly with Dr. Goddard. Penny describes herself as a “grandmother and real estate broker defending the basic principles on which our country was founded - life, liberty, property and lawful, personal responsibility in pursuit of happiness.”

    Johnny Knight joined the Red Oak ISD School Board in 2014. He has served as a past member of the Bond Oversight Committee as well as the Red Oak ISD Growth Management Committee. He is a PTA life member and has served as a past ROJH treasurer.

    Knight attended Mountain View College and Cedar Valley College studying in the field of Electronic Technology. He furthered his education through the National Elevator Education Program where he received his certification. He has been in the elevator industry for over 40 years and currently is employed by ThyssenKrupp Elevator Corporation where he is a Medical Accounts Service Operations Manager.

    He and his wife, Donna, have been married 43 years and have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Donna has worked for Red Oak ISD for the past 31 years and currently is the Student and Family Services Coordinator. Both of their children are graduates of Red Oak ISD. Christopher graduated in 1997 and Katrina graduated in 1999. Katrina is currently employed as the ROHS Theater Director. Johnny and Donna are both involved in the community and, in addition, he serves as 1 of 3 elders at the Ovilla Church of Christ.

    Brian Sebring was elected in 2019 for Place 2 for a three-year term. Sebring recently graduated from the inaugural Red Oak Community Partners Academy where participants learned about the various aspects of district operations over six months. Sebring, an account manager for United Site Services, is married to a Red Oak High School alumni with three children who attend school in Red Oak ISD. He also serves as president of the Red Oak Pee Wee Football Association.

    Dr. Joy Shaw joined the Red Oak ISD School Board in 2010 and has served as the Board Secretary in the past. She has served as a Texas Association of School Board Delegate and on the Red Oak ISD Museum and 100th Birthday committees. Dr. Shaw is a PTA Life Member at both the state and national level. She served as Chairman of the Ellis County Child Protective Services and Red Oak Helping Hands Boards. Dr. Shaw is a school and hospital volunteer.

    Shaw is a 1956 ROISD graduate and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of North Texas, a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Texas A&M – Commerce, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She was an employee of Red Oak ISD for 35 years. She served the District as a Teacher, Coach, Bus Driver, Principal, and Director of Special Education. She received the Association of Texas Professional Educators’ Administrator of the Year Award at the Red Oak ISD District, Region 10, and State levels. Dr. Shaw has been a Red Oak Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year and Red Oak ISD Distinguished Alumni.

     She and her husband of 61 years, James (Nick), an AT&T retiree, have 4 children. Deborah, a 1977 ROHS graduate, earned both Bachelor and Master Degrees from the University of North Texas and is currently a doctoral student at Texas Tech. She is employed as the Fine Arts Director for Midland ISD. Pamela, a 1979 ROHS graduate, has a Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin University and a Master’s Degree from Texas A & M - Commerce. She is employed as a Reading and AVID teacher for Mesquite ISD. Rhonda, a 1981 ROHS graduate, earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin University and her Master’s Degree from Texas Woman’s University. She is a Math Instructor for Parish Episcopal. Scott, a 1983 ROHS graduate, attended University of North Texas and is employed as a Project Manager for a Dallas area construction company. Dr. Shaw has lived in the Red Oak community for all but 8 years of her life. Her parents, Wallace and Hazel Cockerham, moved to the Red Oak community in 1937. Her father served on the Red Oak ISD Board of Trustees for many years and her mother was a charter member of the first Red Oak ISD PTA. The Shaws are members of Red Oak First United Methodist Church.
