• Student Residency Reporting

It has come to the attention of the Red Oak Independent School District (“Red Oak ISD” or “District”) that some students may not meet the District’s residency criteria set forth in Red Oak ISD Board of Trustees (“Board”) Policies FD (LEGAL) and FD (LOCAL). The District will investigate and pursue appropriate action for individuals who do not meet the District’s residency criteria and/or falsify residency documentation.

By law, students must attend school in the district to which their parents or legal guardians pay taxes. Pursuant to Section 25.001(h) of the Texas Education Code, presenting false information or false records is a criminal offense under Texas Penal Code § 37.10. In addition, a person who knowingly falsifies information on a form required for a student’s enrollment in a district is liable to the district if the student is not eligible for enrollment, but is enrolled on the basis of false information.
