Community Partnership with the City of Red Oak

  • Red Oak ISD School Board and Administration heard comments from the public on December 13, 2018, regarding the proposed agreement with the City of Red Oak. The Letter of Intent to move forward with the proposed agreement will be on the School Board agenda for consideration on December 17, 2018. The City Council approved their Letter of Intent on December 10. Should the Board approve the Letter of Intent, the two parties will then begin working on the final agreement details.

The District is working to utilize all existing assets to the full extent while also securing land needs for distant future growth. The proposed agreement, in general, is the ROISD Live Oak and Acorn facilities along with the adjourning sports fields to the City of Red Oak for youth sports and enhanced community amenities in exchange for two potential future elementary school land acquisitions with some infrastructure, plus cash from the City to ROISD. This proposed agreement meets several current and future needs for both entities and provides much-needed community amenities that are vital for a vibrant community.
