• Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSI)/TSIA2

    (TSIA) is part of the Texas Success Initiative program designed to help your college or university determine if you are ready for college-level coursework in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Colleges will require that a student take the TSI or show exemption based on SAT/ACT scores before they can register for classes.

    As of 2021, the TSI is the TSIA2. The TSIA2 is two different tests, each with its own set of questions and separate scores. The tests are the English Language Arts and Reading with Essay and the Mathematics test. Scores range from 910-990.

    TSI/TSIA2 Exemptions

    • ACT score of 23 or higher AND a minimum score of 19 on both the English and Math portions.
    • SAT score of 1070 AND a minimum score of 480 on the EBRW section AND minimum score of 530 on the Math section

    TSIA2 Passing Scores (beginning 2021)

    • English Language Arts and Reading: 945+ OR 910-944 w/ Diagnostic Level of 5-6
    • Essay*: 5
    • Mathematics: 950+ OR 910-949 with Diagnostic Level of 6
      * the essay will only be given if you score at least a 945 on the multiple-choice section of the ELAR OR at least a 4 on the diagnostic test

    TSI Passing Scores (if taken before 2021)

    • Reading: 351
    • Math: 350
    • Writing: 340 and 4+ on essay OR at least 4 and an essay score of at least 5

    TSI Waivers

    College Prep Courses

    • Completing and passing College Prep Math will waive the TSI Math for one year at participating colleges and universities.
    • Completing and passing College Prep English will waive the TSI ELAR for one year at participating colleges and universities.
    • College Prep Course Participating Colleges and Universities

    Texas College Bridge

    • Completing and passing the Texas College Bridge Math will waive the TSI Math at participating colleges and universities.
    • Completing and passing the Texas College Bridge English will waive the TSI ELAR at participating colleges and universities.

    Access to your TSI Scores

    • Go to studentportal.accuplacer.org 
    • Click on "Your ACCUPLACER Score Report"
    • Using the testing voucher provided to you on the test day, enter the information and use TSDS number for the student ID number (if you took the test somewhere else, they may use your Social Security Number for the student ID number)
    • Once you have your results, click "Send Reports" and Accuplacer will email you a link to view and print your results.

    Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA)

    • The Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) is mandatory and to be completed BEFORE you take the TSI.

      • As of March 1, 2022, this Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) is no longer available.
