Susan Underwood RN, BSN, NCSN

Hello!  My name is Susan Underwood and I am the Registered Nurse at Red Oak High School.  The 24-25 school year will be my 12th year at Red Oak and my 21st year as a school nurse.  I began my medical career as a medical Social Worker after earning my bachelors in Social Work in 1993 at the University of Texas at Arlington.  I worked in that field for 5 years before returning to UTA and earned my bachelors in Nursing in 1998.  Prior to school nursing, I worked in a 4 physician Family Practice clinic as a physicians' nurse and the back office supervisor.  When my oldest child started kindergarten, I started school nursing and never left.  I could not imagine nursing in any other setting.  I have worked at all school levels and love high school the most.

On a more personal note, I have been married to my wonderful husband since 2012.  We grew up in DeSoto and were friends growing up; but life happens and took us in different directions.  After many life lessons, we reconnected, fell in love and got married.  Together we have 3 children.  Our son graduated from UNT and works at Fidelity Investments.  Our oldest daughter (by 2 weeks, lol) finished her Bachelors degree from UNT Dallas last May and will be a Special Education teacher!.  Our youngest daughter graduated from Tarleton State with a degree in Agribusiness Management and got married to the love of her life and now runs their family Feed Store.
