Hawk Scholars Academy
Hawk Scholars Academy is a group of students who participate in extensive dual credit coursework beginning their freshman year of high school with the goal being to complete the 42 semester credit hour core college curriculum prior to graduation. Red Oak ISD also has a joint agreement with the University of Texas at Arlington and Navarro College that allows high school students to earn an Associate’s degree through Navarro College by completing 18 more hours of dual credit coursework. This associate's degree will then be transferable to UTA and allow students to enter UTA as a junior.
Unique to the Hawk Scholars Academy is the fact that students continue to be a part of the main ROHS campus while having the same opportunities for extracurricular activities and experiences as their classmates.
Current 8th grade students may enter into the Hawk Scholars Academy by completing an informational page and statement of agreement. Download the Participant Information and Acknowledgement page and view the Procedures and Guidelines here.
This program does carry college tuition costs including textbooks and fees. On average, a 3-hour course through Navarro College costs $241. An Associate’s degree consists of roughly 60 credit hours.
