As an experienced 20-year veteran teacher, I have spent most of my career teaching in schools with diverse
student populations. I have also worked on district and campus committees, and taught AP and
Honors English courses for every grade from 7th grade to Seniors. Additionally, I've instructed
Dual Credit, Speech, Theater Arts, and Creative Writing.

I have a Master's degree in Leadership and Policy Issues in Education from the University of
Texas at Arlington, and I have completed 24 of the required 36 hours for a Master's degree in English
from Tarleton University. I received my Associate's degree from Tarrant County College in
Arlington, and I received a Bachelor's degree from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth.

My certifications include Principal (All Level, English (6-12), Speech (8-12), ESL Supplemental(8-12).

During my time at Southeast Tarrant County College (as it was known at the time), I became very active in student government and spearheaded the first chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society as its founding president. I also served on the Dean's Council and as a Student Ambassador. Once I moved on to Texas Wesleyan, I was a member of the English and Education Honor Societies. 

Initially, when I entered Texas Wesleyan, I signed on as a Theater major with Education as my secondary, but the hours required were a
bit too time-consuming, considering I had four children at home. However, I was able to continue to feed
my theater craving by taking 2 independent studies in Playwriting, which I enjoyed and was
quite successful at. One of my plays was selected to be work-shopped at the ATHE
conference in Toronto, Canada in the summer of 2000. My college also published and later produced my play later that year.

Additionally, I wrote parodies of Shakespearean Plays for Forth Worth's "Theater in the Park." I adapted the script of A Midsummer Night's Dream to match the teen vernacular of the time. It was the first time I received pay for writing, and it was thrilling. They used local high school theater groups to perform the renditions. 

I believe that my students deserve every opportunity to excel, and I am committed to helping them achieve their academic goals.

My teaching assignment this year is Honors English II, and I am excited and honored to be a part of Red Oak ISD.
