My name is Denise Gibson and I teach second grade at Shields Elementary School. I attended Texas Woman's University where I majored in Interdisciplinary Studies and minored in Dance. I'm certified to teach EC-6 as well as ESL and GT certified.   I enjoy dancing, baking, shopping, and spending time with my wonderful family.  I am married and have three beautiful children: Giselle, Kellan and Everly.  We also have a fur baby who is a labrador retriever named Bentley. They are our world and bring us so much joy!  

I absolutely love teaching and am a firm believer in making learning fun by creating authentic learning experiences as well as fostering a student-centered learning environment.  I strive to promote lifelong learning and genuinely love to witness the growth that my students experience throughout their learning journeys.  I am overjoyed to be part of the Shields Elementary community and I am looking forward to meeting all of my Second grade friends!
