Mrs. Tyler Tucker
Hello! I am excited to be able to serve the students, parents, and staff of Shields!
Thank you for visiting the DTS counseling page! I am honored to serve as the school counselor for Shields Elementary. It is my goal to create a partnership with you, your child, and your child's teacher to ensure a successful school year. I will conduct age-appropriate guidance lessons for all students about every 4-6 weeks. Our guidance lessons will focus on important, life-long skills such as: respect, kindness, friendship, personal safety, conflict resolution, character education, emotions, and more.

Individual Counseling
One-on-one counseling is available to all students to discuss academic, personal, and social issues. School counseling is not therapy but rather a brief, short-term support for a student during a crisis situation, immediate personal concern, or problem affecting their achievement and focus in school. For students who have needs that cannot be met in the school environment, referrals to outside sources are available.

School counselors assist students and their parents with issues that are affecting a child's performance either academically or behaviorally in the school environment.
I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you however possible. My passion is to love kids and help them succeed in life and their academics. My husband and I have two children that are in 5th and 2nd grade. I completed my undergraduate degree in elementary education at Texas A&M Commerce and my masters at Lamar University in school counseling. My family and I love to travel and try new adventures together. I previously taught kindergarten and fourth grade and will be starting year 18 in education this year.
