Mr. Schupmann was unanimously chosen as the namesake for the district's 5th elementary school in May 2015. Russell's 25 year career with Red Oak ISD began in 1989. He served as principal of the Red Oak Intermediate School, Red Oak Junior High and Red Oak High School. Later he became the Assistant Superintendent of Campus Operations before retiring in the Summer of 2014.
