"School Counselors Make a World of Difference!"

For those of you who are new to Russell P. Schupmann Elementary (RPS), “Welcome to your new school!” If you are returning to Schupmann, “Welcome back!” My name is Angela Bartels, and I am the counselor here at RPS. This is my 17th year as a school counselor and my 28th year in education. I have two amazing children that attend school with me, and  I love to read, travel, and spend time with my family. I also love my job and the opportunities I have to work with students, families, and teachers each day.

As part of the school counseling program, I will be seeing your student’s class approximately once every six weeks to teach about topics such as social skills, character, conflict resolution, handling bullies, healthy lifestyles, and personal safety. Each grade level is introduced to the topics appropriate to their developmental needs. I also meet with students on an as needed basis both individually and/or in small groups to work through any short term personal or social issues that are affecting a child in the school environment.

Parent conferences and consultations are an important part of my job. So, if you have specific concerns about your child which may impact their school success, please give me a call or email to set up a time to chat.
