Injury Guidelines for Parents & Students

Wounds
- Red, swollen or filled with pus see trainers immediately
- Should be covered at all practices or when clothing covers it
- Allow to air dry, helps it to heal faster
- Best cleaning solution is soap and water
Injuries within 24-48 hours
- Only ice. No creams or lotions (Icy Hot)
- RICE- Rest Ice Compression Elevation
- Ace wrap; Start at the toes and go up
- All injuries should be reported to a trainer
- Student must appear for morning treatments to miss practice or an athletic period
Extreme Heat
- Athlete should wear light colors
- Eat Breakfast
- Drink at least eight 8 oz. glasses of water per day
- No sleeves above 70 degrees
- Wear sunscreen
Asthmatics
- Please bring the trainers an EXTRA inhaler
- May have trouble in high pollution days, high humidity days, and temperatures below 40 degrees
Concussions
Recommendations
- During cold weather wear something that covers the nose and mouth
- If you wear contacts bring the trainers an extra pair
- During cold weather where something to cover the head, ears, and gloves
- HURT OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL TAKE TO DOCTOR FIRST
