Mr. Joey Horn
My name in Robert "Joey" Horn. I am starting my 17th year in education. I teach Resource Math for 2nd - 5th grade. I am a 2010 graduate of University of North Texas, and a 2018 graduate of Lamar University with a Master in Special Education. I will be returning to Lamar to obtain another masters degree in the fall of 2018. I am a true lifetime learner. I may have taken a different path to where I ended up, but people pushing me along the way helped get me there. I have 2 sons that are my world, and I want them to know you should never stop learning, and to keep moving forward.
My why? Why do I teach? I want to make a real difference in every students life. They may not all become mathematicians, but I want to make sure they leave my room/campus loved and inspired. Every student should know that there are people who believe in them, and will hold them to those beliefs.
We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say “It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.”
Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes. - Fred Rogers
