Red Oak ISD Academic Summer School Programs
Red Oak ISD has high expectations for academic achievement. The District offers elementary and secondary students a variety of educational opportunities designed to support our students’ individual academic needs.
Elementary Summer School
- Elementary students who are eligible for Summer School will be notified directly by their campus. This program will be held at Schupmann Elementary and is free of charge.
June 1 - June 18, half-day mornings for elementary students 7:30-11:30 a.m., Monday-Thursday - Emergent Bilingual Summer Language Enrichment - PreK and Kinder students who are eligible for the Language Enrichment Program will be notified directly by their campus. This program will also be held at Schupmann Elementary and is free of charge.
June 1 - June 19, all-day for Language Enrichment students (PreK/Kindergarten Bilingual/ESL students) 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday - If you have any questions about elementary summer programs, please contact the Elementary Summer School Principal, Emily.Martinez@redoakisd.org.
Secondary Summer School
- Secondary students who need support and were not successful on the End-Of-Course (EOC) exam(s) will be invited to attend summer intervention free of charge. This program will be held at Dr. Joy Shaw Middle School.
June 1 - June 18, half-day mornings for secondary school students 7:45-11:45 a.m. Monday-Thursday -
Summer EOC retest dates are as follows: Tuesday, June 16 – English I and US History; Wednesday, June 17 – Algebra I; Thursday, June 18 – English II and Biology
- Secondary students who failed a course (or a semester) and need to make up credit also have an opportunity to attend for a small fee. Secondary students needing summer school to recover course credit ONLY, will be charged $125, except for students who qualify based on the income verification forms completed at enrollment, their fee will be $75. This program will also be held at Dr. Joy Shaw Middle School.

Most students will focus on a single subject for full credit, or two subjects for .5 credit each.
- Counselors and school staff have been and will continue to reach out as we close out the school year. Please watch emails/calls and respond in a timely manner to secure your student’s spot for summer school, if needed.

Extended School Year Services
- Extended School Year Services are offered to our special education students K-12+ through the ARD process. If your student qualifies, you will receive communication from their campus. This program is split across both summer campuses. Students in grades K-5 will attend Schupmann Elementary and students in grades 6-12+ will attend Dr. Joy Shaw Middle School.

Red Oak ISD Summer Feeding Programs
Red Oak ISD partners with a federal program to provide FREE SUMMER MEALS to all children younger than 18. Healthy, nutritious meals are free at the following locations, dates, and times. Meals must be consumed on site. Campus ID and safety measures are in place during the summer also, please bring your ID and only clear bags to the campus.

Lone Star Leadership Academy
Summer Camps for Outstanding 4th-8th graders
Outstanding students from across Texas meet in Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio, or Houston/Galveston for a week of fun, learning, leadership development, and visits to unique and historically significant Texas destinations. Each day students explore notable Texas sites, learn about unique careers from professionals at sites visited, and develop their leadership abilities during leadership groups with their facilitators. All adult facilitators, one for every ten students, are Texas teachers. In addition to improving their leadership abilities, participants gain self-confidence and independence and develop new friendships with other high-achieving students from across the state. - Enroute Academy of the Art
Art camp at En Route Academy is full of creativity, art exploration, and SO MUCH FUN! 🎨 Your kids will explore the introductory techniques of fine realistic drawing, cartooning skills, acrylic painting, and sculpting with air-dry clay - all with one of our professional art instructors. All supplies are included, plus cupcakes on the last day! 🧁 Please pack a non-refrigerated, pre-packaged snack and water bottle for your child daily. The camps will be kept to a limited number of students, allowing more attention for each child. Each camp is custom-tailored to its specific age group. - 2026 Summer Reading Program Unearth A Story!
Get ready to dig into an unforgettable summer at Red Oak Public Library! The 2026 Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story,” is packed with hands on adventures, exciting performances, creative crafts, family movie days, S.T.E.A.M. activities, reading challenges, and fun for all ages. From dinosaur digs and superhero days to live animal encounters and interactive learning experiences, there is something new to discover every week. Join us all summer long as we read, explore, create, and celebrate the power of stories together!

Summer camps for a variety of ages and topics include movies, puppet theater, dance, and a variety of audition and theater opportunities. Ellis County Children’s Theater (ECCT) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, founded by Gail Stutts Harrell in 2008. We provide local artists, professional teachers, and directors an organization in which they may collaborate and coordinate skills in creating a rich educational environment for children living in southern Dallas and surrounding counties. It is the mission of Ellis County Children’s Theater to provide exceptional theater arts education to children in Ellis and surrounding counties in grades Kindergarten through twelfth. We provide transformative, life-changing opportunities with the intention of creating a world of imaginative expression resulting in expanded, positive thinking.

- The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden presents children’s summer camps that spark imagination in STEM and nature from June 1 to August 7, 2026. Designed for students entering first through sixth grades in fall 2026, all camps run Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Pricing for this year’s camps ranges from $285-300 per week, with specific details and registration available at dallasarboretum.org/camps.
