I wanted to address some rumors that are going around. At this point, we are not planning on closing down between Thanksgiving break and Christmas break. We are addressing COVID cases and campus situations on a case-by-case basis and have plans to address various situations as they arise.
At the November 16th Board Meeting, I discussed how TEA Commissioner Morath said the five-day option to close a campus or district due to COVID would be re-addressed and possibly extended to 10 or 14-day options. However, at this point, ROISD is not looking to close any campuses and/or the district as a whole.
This information was only shared for planning purposes should the need arise. We evaluate numbers daily, and always have plans should we reach a threshold that warrants closing. I will keep you posted with any potential changes.
Thank you and have a great day,
Brenda Sanford Superintendent, Red Oak ISD #HawksUnite
