- Red Oak Independent School District
In Red Oak ISD, we believe that our partnership with parents is one of the hallmarks of student success. That is why we have dedicated the evening of Nov. 15 and the morning of Nov. 16 to have focused and in-depth conversations with you.
Below is a Q & A with more details. If there are any questions left unanswered, please use the link at the end to send additional questions.
Thank you for your partnership and for your commitment to your child’s success!
Q: Is Nov. 16 a student holiday?
A: Yes. Students have the day off on Friday, Nov. 16. Please note that Thursday, Nov. 15, is a regular school day.
Q: What are the hours?
A: We are holding conferences during both day and evening hours to accommodate parents’ work schedules. Every campus/teacher will hold parent conferences during the following hours:
- Thursday, Nov. 15 - 4-8 p.m.
- Friday, Nov. 16 - 8 a.m.-noon. Campuses will close at 1 p.m.
Q: Since Friday is a holiday for students, will there be a spirit day?
A: Yes. Thursday, Nov. 15, will be a spirit day for students. Students may wear a spirit shirt and jeans.
Q: As a parent, am I required to attend?
A: We very much encourage 100% of our parents to attend because we strongly believe that parental involvement is essential to each child’s success. However, attendance is not required.
Q: My child is in elementary school (grades PK-5). Should I schedule an appointment?
A: Yes. So that parents can have focused time with their child’s teacher, please schedule an appointment. You will receive further instructions from your campus about how to schedule an appointment.
Q: My child is in secondary school (grades 6-12). Is an appointment required?
A: No. Because each student has multiple teachers, we will hold the meetings in an open-house format that will allow you to visit with parents on a drop-in basis. Parents will receive maps and their child’s schedule. Employees will be in the hall to help with directions and other questions.
Q: Will all teachers and staff be available the evening of the 15th and the morning of the 16th?
Q: Will After the Bell be open on Thursday?
A: Yes. After the Bell will be open with its regular hours on Thursday. Please note that it will be closed on Friday.
Q: Are after-school activities still held both days?
A: Yes, which is why we offer two different days and times slots to accommodate families. Don’t forget this year we should be hosting the first round playoff football game that evening at Goodloe Stadium and would love for you to join us at the game.
Q: Need more information?
A: If so, please speak with your principal or email the ROISD Communications Department at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
