Community approved Bond Propositions

The Red Oak ISD community approved all three bond propositions on May 3. The propositions address growth, student opportunities, and aging facilities across the school district at a total of $213.9 million.

Prop A - 1,503 for, 980 against - passes 60.53%

A new elementary school, career and technical education (CTE) building at the existing high school, a practice gym and high school renovations, and replace all playgrounds at existing elementary schools.

Prop B - 1,372 for, 1,100 against - passes 55.50%

A subvarsity athletic venue and turf at existing baseball and softball fields.

Prop C - 1,372 for, 1,102 against - passes 55.46%

Renovations at Goodloe Stadium.

The propositions are phase two of the District’s long-range facility plan following the current construction of the Dr. Joy Shaw Middle School, which was approved in the 2023 bond election. That project is currently over $15M under budget.

The District will begin the development phase with the call for architect proposals, the design phase, and construction. The District already owns the land for the sixth elementary school off Harmony Way just east of Uhl Road. Multiple projects will take place simultaneously.

Red Oak ISD has grown by 700 students to over 6,700 in just the past four years, with housing growth in both Red Oak and Glenn Heights projecting enrollment to reach 7,000 students by 2026-2027. These propositions will help ROISD manage that growth and beyond.

Because of the District’s bonding capacity, there will not need to be a tax rate increase to repay the debt. The current I&S tax rate of $0.3481 will remain.
