ROISD Superintendent Michael Goddard named Lone Finalist for Lovejoy ISD Top Post
June 4, 2019
(RED OAK, TX) — With sadness for the district but excitement for new opportunities, Red Oak ISD announces current superintendent, Dr. Michael Goddard, has been named the lone finalist for the superintendent position at Lovejoy ISD.
Longtime former Lovejoy ISD superintendent Ted Moore resigned in mid-February. Dr. Dennis Womack, Lovejoy assistant superintendent for operations, has been the interim superintendent since February 14, 2019.
Dr. Goddard, who started with Red Oak ISD in 2017, served as the first principal of Lovejoy High School when it opened in 2005 until 2010. The campus rose quickly to one of the best in the state earning Exemplary status under TEA assessment measures and the prestigious UIL Lone Star Cup in 2010. Dr. Goddard then served as assistant superintendent in Prosper ISD from 2010-2017 overseeing business and operations, HR and curriculum, and instruction.
Since 2017, Red Oak ISD has seen a rise in the positive district culture and an increase in academics and extracurricular development. Students, staff, parents and the community have responded with excitement to the 4 Talons – prepared, GRIT, character, and service – as the mission of the district which supports the vision - Realizing Our Individual Students’ Dreams (ROISD). The district strategic plan guides staff to prepare students to be college and career ready, but also ready for the world as future leaders and caring human beings.
ROISD has thrived under Dr. Goddard’s leadership earning District State Semi-Finalist in the HEB Excellence in Education Awards, and Dr. Goddard was recently named one of 12 nominees for National Superintendent of the Year through the National Association of School Superintendents (NASS).
Following the 21 day waiting period required by the state, the Lovejoy ISD Board is expected to hire Goddard the last week of June. He will continue in his role as ROISD Superintendent until that time. ROISD board members will discuss their options going forward to name an acting or interim superintendent.
