ROISD Practical Parent Enrichment Classes
The Practical Parent Enrichment Classes are designed to educate families on current situations that our students may be facing.
All class times are 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted and are held at Acorn Community and Family Services building located at 101 Live Oak, Red Oak, TX 75154. Please call Donna Knight at 972-617-4658 or email email@example.com to reserve your spot for a class.
Babysitting will be provided if needed but you MUST RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org at least 3 days in advance.
Parent of the Year Awards
Parent of the Year Awards will be March 26, 2019 in the ROHS Performing Arts Center at 7:00 p.m.
Deadline for letters need to be turned in to Donna Knight no later than Feb. 28, 2019. NOTE: This is an earlier deadline this year
This session is for parents and students who may need to work together on anger issues. A curriculum On Target is used for these sessions. Anita Lamar is facilitator

Cooking with Natasha
Families can have quality family time by learning to make fun treats.

Classes are held at 200 Live Oak ROISD Professional Development building from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Nov. 1: Teaching etiquette and how to serve a meal with family Meal to be determined $5.00 cost per person to cover materials.

Apr. 4: Summer Snacks - Making animals etc. using fruits and vegetables
This class is for students and parents who are having attendance and tardy issues. The state laws are discussed as well as communicating with parents on reasons their child has absences etc. Charmianne Womack and Rebecca Juarez are the facilitators

Dyslexia Support Group
Parents can gather to learn the struggles of a child with dyslexia and how to help them with school. Dena Goddard will be helping with this class.
Classes to be held at Live Oak Professional Development Center located at 200 Live Oak.
Oct. 25 @ 6 p.m.: This is Dyslexia Awareness month and will have a large celebration at Live Oak. Details to come.
Jan. 17 | Apr. 15
This session is for those who have lost loved ones, Parent, sibling, spouse, friend, . You can attend one or all of the sessions. Trained facilitators in grief will be there to assist families. Families can also be with others in the same situation. In December there will be a candle light ceremony with ROISD and Driggers and Decker Funeral home for each family who lost loved ones.

Hide and Seek
Current drug trends and where drugs are hidden. Presented by Donna Knight/ Impact Communities
Skyward for Grandparents
Amy Linex will instruct this class so that Grandparents who are raising their grandchildren can learn how to access from Skyward their grades etc. You will learn how to use the computer to keep up with information on your students. Any parent or grandparent can attend.
Southwest Autism Parent Educator Group
Parents and Educators support each other in the world of Autism. There are speakers set for each meeting to help parents learn about struggles and how to work with the educators. Topics to come later
Participating schools include: Cedar Hill ISD, DeSoto ISD, Ellis County Co-Op, Lancaster ISD, Life School, Midlothian ISD, Palmer ISD, Red Oak ISD, and Waxahachie ISD.

Team Building within the Family
This session will talk about communication, boundaries and team building activities. Family members will interact with each other while building trust. Donna Knight and Jenn Spoor will be teaching this class.
