Hello, Hawks and Hawk Families,

I am so excited to be one of the 3rd-grade math teachers. I have been working in Education since 2009, and this will be my 3rd year at ROE and my 4th year teaching in Texas.  I have a Masters degree in Education and Teaching from the University of Northern Colorado. Teaching is my second career, but it has been my dream since I was in the 2nd-grade. Needless to say, I truly believe it's my life's calling and the best career ever! In my previous life, I was an Army wife for over 23 years and worked for the Army in family services as a Victim Advocate and Sexual Assault Coordinator.

My family is my most precious gift and my husband is my best friend and we love anything in the outdoors and love to camp, fish, hike, ride bikes. I am also a mother of three amazing children and one beautiful and funny grandson. My oldest son is 29 years old and served his country in both the Navy and the Army until he was injured in a military training accident, that left him paralyzed in 2015. He continues to be his best self despite his injury. My middle son is 25, married to his high school sweetheart and gave our family a beautiful grandson who will be 3. Our youngest and only daughter is 13 and in the 8th grade. She keeps us very busy with all of her sports and cheerleading and is a sweet and kind young lady. Outside of the classroom, some of my favorite things I especially love to do is working out at least 3-4 days per week, spending time with my family, and watching sports, T.V., and movies.

My overall goal for students is to make children love learning and enjoy coming to school. In doing so, my philosophy is to not only teach them math to be successful in their future grades but to provide them with the tools to be kind and caring citizens both inside and outside of the classroom, as well as, make good decisions for themselves. I have a saying, "I not only want to teach kids what  they need to know in math, but I also hope that when they leave my classroom, they are a better person than when they entered." I love this career and I am truly blessed to be your child's teacher.

I am available daily via email: kimberly.garza@redoakisd.org, and phone from 12:00 to 12:45 or before and after school. If at any time you have a concern or question, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will work to do whatever I can to help or resolve your question or concern.

Yours in learning,

Mrs. Garza
