ROISD Practical Parent Enrichment Classes

  • The Practical Parent Enrichment Classes are designed to educate families on current situations that our students may be facing. 

    Classes will be held at the Community & Family Services Center in CTE Building #2 located at 156 Louise Ritter Blvd. All classes will begin at 6:30 p.m. For more information call Donna Knight, Community and Family Services Coordinator, at 972-617-4658 or email donna.knight@redoakisd.org to reserve your spot for a class. 

    Child care will be provided if needed but you MUST RSVP to donna.knight@redoakisd.org at least 3 days in advance. 

  • Parent of the Year Awards

    Parent of the Year Awards will be March 24, 2020 in the ROHS Performing Arts Center at 7:00 p.m.

    Students at each campus will write essays on why their parent should be Parent of the Year. Judges outside of the district will pick a winner and finalist. Parents are notified once selected.

  • Cooking with Natasha

    These classes are open to families to spend time together making special items for the holidays. Flyer will be out before each class indicating what will be demonstrated. RSVP to these classes are required due to room.

  • Dreams Class

    The Dreams Class is designed to help parents understand the truancy laws as well as the 90% laws of Texas for attendance. Each campus will notify the parent if needed to attend. Sessions are presented in English/Spanish. Secondary campuses students who are referred must attend with their parent.

  • "" Dyslexia Parent Information Night

    Guest Speaker: 
    Leroy McClure, CALT, LDT and author of “Why Sammy Still Can’t Read.” Books will be available to purchase and have signed at the event.

    Your child’s dyslexia therapist will be available to visit and answer questions after the guest speaker.

  • Self Defense for Women and Girls

    This session will be a quick overview of how to protect yourself. With the holidays, approaching women and teens are out shopping and tips will be provided to keep you safe.

  • Surviving the "First" after Death or Divorce

    There is always the first birthday, special day etc. when dealing with grief of any kind. This session will help give strategies on how to deal with those "first" events.

    This session will be open to those who are without their loved ones during the holidays whether through death, divorce, or other reasons. Breakaway Curriculum is used by trained Grief facilitators.

  • Southwest Autism Parent Educator Group

    These sessions are for parents and families to learn how to best work with those students who have been diagnosed with Autism. There are speakers at each meeting to discuss the needs of those students.
