The Red Oak ISD Community and Student Engagement Performance Ratings have been released for the 2015-2016 school year yielding the district an overall “Exemplary” rating. Download the Community and Student Engagement Report.
Part of the 83rd Texas Legislature House Bill 5 requires all districts to evaluate the district's performance and the performance of each campus in community and student engagement. This bill allows school districts to showcase areas of excellence and success outside the limited scope of standardized test scores. It is also an opportunity for staff to recognize areas that need improvement in the future.
All school districts and campuses are required to assign a performance rating of Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable, or Unacceptable for overall performance in the following categories:
Wellness and physical education
Community and Parent Involvement
The 21st Century Workforce
Second language acquisition
Digital learning environment
Dropout prevention strategies
Educational programs for gifted and talented students
Compliance with statutory reporting and policy requirements
In Red Oak ISD, local committees for each of the 9 indicators were assembled in the fall and updated the rubrics to rate the categories for the 2015-2016 school year. Once the rubrics were given to the schools, each campus committee provided descriptions of what their campus was doing in each category. This information was used by each campus committee to rate their school using the updated rubrics for each category.
Each campus committee provided recommendations on how they plan to enhance their effectiveness in each specific area and propel the district to even Higher Levels of achievement.
