The Classroom Revolution Committee was formed in July of 2015 with the purpose of re-examining the way that we deliver instruction in Red Oak ISD. The group was charged with studying the classroom environment and instructional delivery methods with the goal of making a recommendation to the Red Oak ISD School Board in the Spring of 2016.
In February of 2016, the committee presented the school board with a comprehensive plan to revolutionize the classroom experience in Red Oak ISD through changes in the environment, technology and instruction available to both teachers and students.
Moving forward, the district has planned for a $2 Million project over the summer to transition Red Oak Middle School into a revolutionized learning space. The 6th Grade Center already boasts the technology and environmental factors of the initiative as it was renovated prior to the 2015-16 school year. The $2 Million will be spent on items like flexible furniture for classrooms, interactive projectors, white-board walls, increased wireless Internet capabilities and cosmetic upgrades to common areas.
The Red Oak Classroom Revolution will implement fully over the next 3-5 years for grades K-12. The end goal would allow for enhanced technology and flexibility in every classroom and learning space in the district.
The committee is comprised of 29 staff members from across the district, covering every content area, every campus and all major instructional role responsibilities. The single largest category represented on the committee is classroom teacher.
