The Red Oak ISD Scholarship Headquarters is a valuable resource for Red Oak High School students and families. Check the site often for updates and added scholarships. Whether a student is interested in 2 or 4 year college or a trade school, this site will provide helpful financial support opportunities.

Federal Student Aid Resources: 

U.S. Department of Education has a Federal Student Aid website with information about preparing for college, types of aid and eligibility, the FAFSA process, and other resources.

Check with your college for specific FAFSA deadlines and other financial assistance programs. Remember to fill the FAFSA out as soon as possible.

Junior To Do List

ü  Decide on your route after high school! Go to College For All Texans website for help with researching Texas colleges and universities, military branches, and careers.  Additionally, take a career assessment at TEXASgenuine Assessment website

ü  Study the pros / cons of each of your choices. Visit colleges and meet with college and military recruiters in the Hawk's Nest during lunches throughout the school year and at local college fairs.

ü  Register for college admissions tests such as ACT / SAT.  In order to sign up for these tests you will need the Red Oak High School Institution Code: 445405

ü Take the PSAT as a Junior in order to be considered for the National Merit Scholarship Competition.  

ü Volunteer in your community. Join clubs and organizations. Check the Opportunity Headquarters for volunteer opportunities.

 

 Senior To Do List

ü  Narrow your search to a manageable number. Go to Compare College TX website for help.

üApply! Go to Apply Texas website and start applying! Familiarize yourself with enrollment requirements and procedures. Keep in mind that some schools have application fees. Don’t forget to send the necessary SAT/ACT scores directly from College Board and ACT and request for your high school transcript to be sent out to the college of your choice.  The transcript request form can be found in the ROHS Counseling Office and each transcript will cost $1. 

ü Submit your FAFSA as soon as it opens up on October 1st.

ü  Register for college admissions tests and retests such as ACT / SAT in the fall of your senior year.  In order to sign up for these tests you will need the Red Oak High School Institution Code: 445405

ü  Update your resume including volunteer hours and part-time and summer jobs.  

ü Search for scholarships. Start with your college or university (you must be admitted in order to apply to these scholarships and deadlines start as early as Dec. 1). Check with your parent's place of work or your employer. Check here often for local scholarships.
